Greg Olson so far looking very positive
Greg Olson the Oakland Raiders new offensive coordinator in 2013 showed through just one preseason game he is a huge upgrade to Greg Knapp.
Why is that?
Olson showed he has plays to get the best out of players like Terrelle Pryor, Marcel Reece, Darren McFadden, and even guys like Jamize Olawale.
He showed he has designed plays for Terrelle Pryor to make plays another thing Greg Knapp clearly didn’t try to do.
Greg Knapp through most of the 2012 season didn’t even use Marcel Reece til he basicly was forced to do when McFadden got hurt.
Greg Olson not only showed he’ll get the very best out of Marcel Reece, he also showed back-up FB Jamize Olawale will more then likely get allot of big plays this up and coming season.
So far it looks like he’ll use every weapon he can this season rather then trying to force a playbook that didn’t suit the players.
This is Greg Olson‘s 27th season as a coach.
2012 he was the Jacksonville Jaguars assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach.
He also spend 4 years in Tampa, 3 of which he was the Buccaneers offensive coordinator.
Under Olson in Tampa LeGarrette Blount became only the 2nd undrafted rookie running back to rush for 1,000 yards, and Mike Williams the 4th round pick had 11 touchdown receptions Buccaneers team record for a single season.
Josh Freeman had 8,898 yards and 51 touchdowns his three season with Greg Olson.
Greg also helped produce huge numbers with the St. Louis Rams as offensive coordinator.
Marc Bulger passed for 4,000 yards, Steven Jackson rushed for 1,500 yards, plus Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce both had 1,000 yards receiving.
Matthew McGloin could be someone that might benefit from Greg Olson’s offence this season and maybe beyond.
